As previously mentioned, this week's species is the African Bullfrog, a relentless predator who frankly does not give a shit about anything but sex and food, a LOT of food. What I mean by this, is that the African Bullfrog is a pure carnivore and will do whatever necessary to get those precious calories. No matter the shape, size, color, or abilities of prey, the Bullfrog is all in and will devour its undeserving opponent no matter what… and I mean no matter what. Imagine Jabba the Hut but in the body of a chubby frog and to be quite honest, they don’t look too different from each other! If you don’t believe me, then take science’s word for it. According to notable scientific research on African reptiles/frogs, the African Bullfrog is capable of eating, “insects, scorpions, snakes, fish, smaller frogs, scorpions, rodents, lizards, spiders, and birds”. Wait did I read that correctly? Birds!? Damn right! In fact, the African Bullfrog once ate 17 juvenile Rinkhals Snakes at the Pretoria zoo.  The African bullfrog will eat more than a obese dude at Burger King who hasn’t eaten in 6+ hours, and according to my friend Dale who weighs 290 pounds, 6+ hours of no food would result in an absolute FEAST at burger king (lol).

Anyways, besides being cannibalistic and relentless predators, these African Bullfrogs, specifically of the female gender, are absolute savages when it comes to birth. Human mothers, you may want to look away for this next sentence…. A vigorously pregnant female can lay 3000-4000 eggs at one time! Ouch! After hearing these terrifying facts, I hope I have you hooked on the African Bullfrog! If anyone has cool videos or images of this chunky beast, make sure to direct message @snagfish on Instagram with them right now. Also, check in every week for a new species breakdown and share the hell out of this post! As always, keep it weird, because mother nature will never cease to do exactly that.
